April Title: Edgar and Lucy

This month, we'll be reading Edgar and Lucy by Victor Lodato and meeting up to discuss the book on April 27, 6:30pm at our U District store. Monthly Refined Reads book discussions will rotate among different University Book Store locations around the Puget Sound.

Playwright Victor Lodato's sprawling second novel offers a window into the haunting world of a mother and son living in suburban New Jersey. Eight-year-old Edgar is not having an easy go of things. He's albino, borderline autistic, and can't remember the accident that left people whispering and his mother, Lucy, with a limp. When a mysterious bearded man with a tragic story of his own offers him protection, he's tempted to take him up on it. Lucy is trying her best, but in the wake of her husband's suicide she struggles with alcoholism. To save Edgar, she may have no choice other than to finally confront the demons of her past. Profound, shocking, and beautiful, Edgar and Lucy is a thrilling adventure and the unlikeliest of love stories.
